The Slit Lamp Examination

The slit lamp is an instrument consisting of a high-intensity light source that can be focused to shine a thin sheet of light into the eye. It is used in conjunction with a biomicroscope. The lamp facilitates an examination of the anterior segment and posterior segment of the human eye, which includes the eyelid, sclera, conjunctiva, iris, natural crystalline lens, and cornea. The binocular slit-lamp examination provides a stereoscopic magnified view of the eye structures in detail, enabling anatomical diagnoses to be made for a variety of eye conditions. The shoulders of giants!!! According to the bible, zacchaeus ‘the short’ was a notorious tax collector. He cheated the people of his time by collecting taxes which exceeded the required amount. His life changed tremendously and became a good Christian after his encounter with Christ the messiah. This divine transformation took place after he had climbed the sycamore-fig tree to see Christ; he saw afar. The loose-loose-game; unwinnable scenario!!!

The loose-loose-game; unwinnable scenario!!! Couple of years ago, I witnessed a game between a young girl and her elder sister. In this game, a stone is hidden in one palm of the sister, the hand is sent back and the stone left on a chair without the kid’s knowledge. The two hands are brought forward again simultaneously and the kid is asked to guess which hand contains the stone. She never got any of the chances right because the stone is in neither of the two palms. I call this game ‘the loose-loose-game’ . It is an unwinnable scenario! Some youths instead of striving harder towards achieving their set goals, have entrusted their future in the hands of some families and friends who they thought will assist them in the course of their lives. Unfortunately some of these relatives do not carry them to their desired destination. In the long run, they only give ‘tangible’ excuses whenever they are approached.
